The creation of Europe’s leading naval defense group with the merger of DCN and Thalès Naval France | |
|
CONTEXT
In 2006, DCN (Direction des Constructions Navales) acquired the naval business of Thalès, with the latter taking 25% of the merged entity. The merged company had a broader strategic focus, and DCN needed to forge a reputation to go with its status as a private-sector player.
CHALLENGE
Help DCN successfully transform itself from a state-owned company to an international brand known as a leader in European naval defense and able to deliver its products and related services to naval forces across the globe. |
SOLUTION
Dragon Rouge proposed a new name, DCNS, to move away from any association with the acronym previously used and suggest enhanced strength, technology and service. The overall theme of the new identity evokes power – “strength at sea” – to optimally position the company within the European alliance that is to take shape within the coming years. |
