The Light House

How do you upgrade an office building ?

SCAPRIM entrusted us with the mission of completely refurbishing and repositioning an office building so that it could go back on the market to attract either one or several tenants. The building is on Rue de Hennape in a lesser-known area of Nanterre, far from the main access roads to Paris/the La Défense business hotspot. The goal was to revitalise the 10,600-square-metre building, create new services and generate interest and excitement. The agency reconfigured the spaces in the Nanterre office building to give it a strong and distinctive new personality.

SHINING A NEW LIGHT ON HOW PEOPLE WORK

With the LIGHT HOUSE and its monumental, iconic lamp that cuts through the building, the designers have shone a new light on how people work. This giant lamp complete with a lampshade lights up at night and spans 23 metres from the bottom to the top of the building.

OFFICES OF TOMORROW: VERSATILE AND HYBRID SPACES.

A MAJESTIC ENTRANCE HALL

The majestic entrance hall is designed to be more welcoming (hospitality management, coffee corner, lounge area, meeting rooms). The space is mainly occupied by the giant lamp’s base, which has been transformed into a circular seating area for visitors. The ground floor also features a concierge service and cloakrooms. The business centre is also located on this level: four modular meeting rooms for 8 to 24 people, a work café and a lounge area, as well as a coworking area on the mezzanine level of the hall.

THE MODULAR FORUM

This is the other highlight of the ground floor. This modular space, equipped with retractable platforms, built-in cupboards, and projectors, with a large red and orange tiled carpet and matching stools in the centre, is versatile and can be adapted to suit various uses, such as a break room, ping-pong room and workout area, a showroom with natural light or a 100-seater darkened auditorium.

A HYBRID, SOCIABLE, CONNECTED RESTAURANT.

HYBRID CATERING

There is also an inter-company restaurant on the ground floor. To offer employees some variety, we have created several different dining environments:

- Lunch spaces that are like being in the kitchen with studio-style windows. Lunch areas in the lounge with large, rounded partitions and circular banquettes surrounded by openwork dividers.

- A dining room ambiance with large wooden tables like a table d’hôte. Small booths for more private lunches for one or two people.

VERSATILE OFFICE SPACES

The office spaces designed by StudioK by Karl Petit are the creative expression of the essential formula for new office buildings: versatile, comfortable workspaces that can be configured either with partitions or as open space. The materials are modern and practical, suitable for high-traffic areas like offices. The floors are soft, quiet and easy to clean, as is the contemporary skai faux leather of the armchairs.
